*1969- Began training in the martial arts
* Earned original black belt in 1972 in Shorin-kan, Shigero Nagazato's system, under instructor Sam Faulkner
* Came to Peoria fall 1974, trained with Randy Holman at Phil Koeppel’s school

* 5th degree black belt promotion had been pending since 1987. Used as a good example by Master Trias as what a 5th degree should be doing and writing. Unfortunately, Master Trias passed away before the promotion took place.
* Went overseas to demonstrate in Japan, Korea, Okinawa, Taiwan, and the Phillipines-- member of United States Karate Assoc Team (Master Trias’s organization), 1976
* Worked with Chiba, Yasuhiro Konishi (one of Master Trias's teachers) and Nagazato while overseas
* Chief Instructor Shuri-Ryu for 23 years under Joe Walker at Academy of Okinawan Karate
* 2nd degree brown in Kendo 1998
* Trained in escrima
* Weapons certification in 1986 "tachi" in Okinawan kobudo awarded by Master Trias — 4th degree weapons certification
* Nationally rated under USKA -- 6th in kata in 1976, 13th in kobudo in nation. Regionally rated by USKA (under Robert Bowles) in 1989: 4th weapons, 5th kata
* Member of 1999 team to perform memorial service demonstration for Matayoshi Shinpo in Okinawa
* On World Championship team for koshiki fighting in 1986
* Participated in many tournaments and demonstrations all over the United States
* Joined Metamora Martial Arts as a chief instructor in 2004
