There's no open mat on Wed 4/30 as indicated on the calendar.
I haven't done this in awhile. Here are a bunch of links I think everybody should take a look at...

It's after 11 for those of you keep track of my online activity...just sayin' so none of you get confused reading this tomorrow morning and wondering when I made an update. I just really wanted to update on the technical side - I combined Schedule & Events because I have a feeling people were missing things because the two have been separated since I started working this site. I really should be sleeping before work tomorrow...but I don't have class and I'll be joining everybody for Mr. Hawkey's workout tomorrow with camera in hand. Anyway, that doesn't really matter. What matters is that I hope everybody finds the Schedule/Events merger to benefit them.
Doing site-wide updates occasionally brings on some technical problems, so if you run into one, try to pay attention to what you were doing so I can help fix it sooner.
My mind got triggered for a bunch of things today. We talked in SWAT about being a family and I think the soon-to-be journalism minor in me wants to write something about it.
Sounds like a lot of people are going to Amanda's party on Saturday, which is good. Head to the forums for more details.
I think that's all I've got for you guys tonight.
I believe I have all the tournament results updated. So if you haven't seen your name up there the last 2 weeks, that's why. Remember - no class tomorrow. Go enjoy the weather.
Just wanted to encourage everybody who wasn't planning on it to try and head to MTHS tonight or tomorrow for the musical, Peter Pan. We have several of our members involved (Gabby, Sam, Erica, Julia). Gabby was telling a few of us last night that she had to improv at parts, and we had to tell her that nobody noticed anything wasn't going according to the script. Great job, guys.
Reminder to all that there is no class on Monday. Mr. C fractured his wrist and is seeing a doctor.
Lots of news this afternoon! First, Amanda's promotion party and information on a tournament in Moline can be found here.
Also, May and June calendars have been posted. Visit this topic for more details.
Make sure anybody who attends the Tuesday workouts knows that you will not be having anything formal. Reasons why are explained here.
Head to this topic to discuss Mr. C's new article in Black Belt Magazine about cyberbullying.
There is no workout tomorrow after MTHS lets out because Mr. C is taking a day to recover. Mr. Hawkey will be there at 4:30, however, and Germantown will still be happening.
Ideas for the summer program are being tossed around now! Let us know what will work best for you. High school and grade school.
Also, stripe review/test is happening. If you missed Monday's class, too bad. If you hit Monday's class, you need to come to at least the next to practices if you want another a stripe.
I've gone through a good amout of score sheets from Jim Deters and have already updated the site with all the results he took down. I still have 3 other rings, it looks like.
All media stories surrounding the tournament can be found here, and I just wanted to remind everybody about pictures - upload 'em if ya got 'em!
I have a feeling I'll be making another update tonight and several over the next few days. The media made their rounds today as I saw at least 3 different cameramen and another photographer who came late to the event.
CONGRATULATIONS to everybody who participated. I noticed a variety of schools and am pumped that we finally hosted our first-ever open tournament.
I just wanted to congratulate Michael Fink (Jr. Grand Champion Black Belt Sparring), Tony Herr (Grand Champion Colored Belt Sparring), and John Morrow (Grand Champion Black Belt Sparring, Grand Champion Black Belt Forms) for their wins. Full results of the tournament will likely not be updated immediately due to a heavy school load, but I promise I will eventually upload all competitiors whose score sheets I have (note to Mr. C - I need the rest!).
Check back soon as more coverage is added!
With just under 24 hours to go until we kick off our first open tournament, the media has taken up promoting the tournament. First, the Journal Star posted an article here and Channel One aired a very tiny newsclip in their "Culture Cast" section (make sure you are watching the April 3, 2008, video!). There is a definite possibility of the local media being on hand tomorrow, as well.
A few things to note before the big day...
Health Dept. needs volunteers - will be at the school until 11 and need some volunteers
ATTN: Bakers - Mrs. Deters has instructions for you
Finally, what you need to know - all of the last-minute details are starting to come together
Congratulations to Amanda, yesterday, earning the title of Deshi!
April calendar is now up. Remember - tournament on Saturday!!!
