Hey guys,
I got new pics of some of you guys yesterday and haven't found time to upload them yet. But I will have new pics up soon. I'll bring my camera again tomorrow too for anybody that might've been left out.
For those of you operating on a resolution smaller than 1280x800 and using Internet Explorer 7, click here. It's got some details about the website and how I'm going to fix it. Speaking of potential problems, click here if you notice any problems with the board. I just upgraded yesterday. Already I see the points link isn't displaying the text at the top (but if you roll over the gap between Arcade and Calendar, you can still click it).
REMEMBER: You guys need to let Mr. C know if you're going to the Jamboree on Friday, and get your Becker slips in ASAP!
Finally, congrats to Mr. C on his new article in Black Belt Magazine. I've searched their site and I can't find the contact links they said would be there.
Adults - I will be back at Germantown tomorrow night.
Good morning from what I understand is the 4th worst college library out of 366 other universities nationwide. Before I get started on some homework, I wanted to make a few announcements...
First of all, there is no conditioning class today. No reason is given, so just head home after school.
Woodford County Teen Jamboree is this Friday. If you aren't failing any classes and are an upperclassman (or older) or help out at the grade schools, see Mr. C about going TODAY. I think today is the last day to let him know.
For those of you who want to compete on November 3, start your training NOW. It's never too early. Let's fill up the activity bus and take home some hardware.
Tournament information coming soon for our November tourney. I'll be making a graphic for it and may have it up before the end of the day. I'll also have a revised edition of the first version of our April tourney flyer.
Lastly, I'll have the camera rolling againtomorrow after I get done teaching white belts since I didn't get much filmed on Thursday. Hopefully Joshu Amanda's brother gets the camera back to me today.
It was officially announced yesterday that we will be hosting our own in-house tournament on Saturday, November 24, 2007, at MTHS! This will be great practice for anybody wishing to compete in following tournaments, and especially our own first-ever open tournament next spring. This will be the 6th Annual Metamora Martial Arts Holiday Tournament. The first four were held in December, and last year was the first time it was moved to Thanksgiving Day Weekend.
I'll beg Mr. C for information on the tournament to post here on the website and get flyers posted around the school.
In other tournament news, please check this topic for news and updates on the two other tournaments in November. Sort past all the NAN stuff since that was last weekend.
Remember to turn in your slips for Master Leif Becker, YES or NO. We need this information to know whether or not we'll hold the seminar. All your information is on the sheet. If you did not get a sheet, please contact Mr. C.
I know a lot of promotions happened recently, so please remember to pay your appropriate fees.
Remember - I'll be filming parts of class at MTHS tomorrow in case you wanted to actually wear a full uniform or do your hair a certain way. This will be footage shot for next year's highlight video and other random videos. Remember that by showing up to class tomorrow, you agree to have your name, likeness, voice, and image used on any future releases I'll put out.
October 19 is not too far off, so read this thread for information about the Woodford Co. Teen Jamboree.
Class returns to normal this week for everybody. I just thought I'd let everybody know that I'll be filming on Thursday at MTHS. It will be much easier to put one video together around Christmas and one video together next summer for next summer's 2008 release, instead of doing what I did this past summer and going through a year's worth of footage and putting those videos together within three weeks. So, if there's going to be a legality to it, you agree to be featured in any and all footage I plan to produce from that footage by attending class.
Adults: If you are one of the adult students, please visit the Grade School forum for the new lesson plans. I have not edited the Word document, but I did make note that I will be absent on October 16 because Dead to Fall is finally coming back to the area and I have yet to see them perform.
I don't see any Homecoming pics! Please try to upload some of them to the link below.
As far as a tournament update goes, nobody ended up competing in this weekend's tournaments. I did send 50 fliers out to the Terre Haute tournament orgranizers. Welcome to anybody from there.
I think that's it for update. I'll see everybody tomorrow.
Parents: If you took some pictures of the Homecoming parade, please upload them here. The album should be good to go.
Otherwise, that's it. Wish our competitors good luck on Sunday at Beloit and I don't think we have any on Saturday going to Terre Haute. Good luck!
I hope everybody is diggin' the new site. Feedback is appreciated. In my haste to upload the new site yesterday, I forgot to set the visibility of the new skins. There are several different skins. For those who don't know, a skin is a different version of the forums. Everything is the same except the look. Minus the Crystals sets, the other three provide unique color schemes. To change your skin, go to the very bottom left and there is a drop-down menu with several to choose from.
I wanted to point everybody in the direction of a couple links...
Leif Becker Chat Room?I know it's promotion week at the grade schools. Please PLEASE send your pics in to the Gallery, specifically to the Classes album.
HELP! We need more trucks for the Homecoming parade on Thursday. Remember that there is no regular class at MTHS or Germantown. You're encouraged to meet at 1:45 by the MTHS bus barn if you want to walk in the parade (it is not required). Also, please bring your own candy if you wish to toss it.
Since its inception nearly one year ago, MetamoraMartialArts.com reveals its new permanent layout for the first time ever! You guys voted for this design at the Forums, and I've used your input since this site went live last December to create a much more powerful tool than ever. Please check this document to get comfortable with the new site, as I've laid out for you everything that has changed and why.
And also for the first time, I wanted to be the first person to publicly announce the arrival of Master Leif Becker next April! The night before our open tournament. Mr. Becker will fly in from Connecticut and host a breaking seminar. He will also attend our first-ever open tournament the very next day, Saturday, April 8, 2008! For information on Leif Becker, visit his website. Mr. Becker is quite literally a world record breaker, having broken 487 boards in one minute with one hand in 2005. Some of you may have seen Mr. Becker in July with a station at the US Open, where my idea was hatched to have him visit Metamora.
This week, expect handouts to circulate on this momentous event. This seminar will be our first in three years, after February 2005's incredible Wushu seminar with Master Anthony Marquez of Mortal Kombat fame.
Also, the October calendar is up.
Please feel free to visit the forums to discuss the new site or to submit a problem/question you have.
