Congrats to the Redbirds yesterday for bringing a state championship back home for the first time since my parents were in high school back in 1975!

I really just wanted to make this post today about some happenings at the forums...

Casino - I'm not trying to encourage gambling here, but the Casino was an easy component to add and looks like it will be fun. It is currently disabled because it did not come with games, so I'll be adding games onto it in the coming days.
General Announcements - On our holiday parties, pictures, and apparel.
Movie - Jim Craig wants you guys to throw your ideas in for the movie we'll see on December 20!
High School Holiday Party - Info on the high school's party set for December 20.
Workout with us! - Post your workouts at home!
Grade School - Holiday Parties, Congrats to Mr. Weiss, and RGS adult testing.
Thanksgiving, State, Y2J, and more! - Discuss what you did for the holiday, the Redbirds' victory, Chris Jericho's return, and much more!

I thought I'd let everybody know of some new mods I've added to the board. Both involved social networking sites. One is a bookmark mod, which allows you to bookmark links through sites like Digg and Facebook. Links have been added to show members' MySpace and Facebook links (among others). So go to the forums and check out the details on both!

Karate-ka - last week a certain martial arts mom passed out a note to you. Make sure to read it ASAP!

There has been changes to our schedule for the end of the year. Check the Events section to the left to see specifics.

Stay tuned for new updates to the forums over the next couple days. I've got some cool mods coming but I've been having problems making them actually work, but that should be fixed soon.

I just got this in my e-mail inbox...

Hi everyone,

I've been thinking about this situation since last night. If you don't
know, MTHS football is now going to the state championships. That's cool!
But the big game is next Saturday, which conflicts with our holiday
tournament.

As a teacher at MTHS, I feel it would be best to free up our students and
families and not have a conflicting event with the state game, regardless
if you care about football or not :-)

As a school program, we need to support each other. I don't think it
shows strong support if I try to talk people in to attending an event on
the same day as the state championship game.

I'm disappointed that we won't have the tournament, but I hope you
understand.

Full refunds will be distributed for pre-registered competitors.

Thank you to those who tried to make this happen. I'll have to schedule
better next time.

But in the back of your minds, please save Saturday April 5! That will be
our next tournament, and our first open tournament. I really want all
students there for that experience!

And as a reminder: no practices are scheduled for this Wednesday.

Mr. C

I will likely be back with another update early next week.

Friday, November 16, 2007 - 2:30 PM

ATTENTION KARATE-KA!!! Only ten people have registered so far for our 6th Annual Holiday Tournament. Each tournament in the past has continually brought in more people than the one before it. So, PLEASE register by Tuesday, November 20! If there aren't any more than 30 people, we will cancel the tournament.

For those unaware, my laptop crashed AGAIN so no real updates were made to the site.

For green belts - Mr. C has sent me Anaku movements! Click the Requirements link to the left. For all ranks (though I assume we're starting low), we're going to use the YouTube account for one of its original purposes - to bring you all your requirements visually. If you're like me, you find it hard to look at text and understand what it's telling you. So hopefully within the next month or two, we can get some people together to film requirements and I can start putting some requirements online.

If you haven't been to the forums in awhile, I'm updating it with some new modifications to try to integrate this part of the page with the forums and vice versa. Two of the new mods I'm looking to add are for your social networking sites such as MySpace and Facebook. I know a lot of you have them, so I think these mods will be pretty slick for you.

Good news, white belts. I think I have all but one of you on the roster page! Ippon #1 is listed in the documents listed under the Requirements link, so practice that at home.

Pictures have been set for this year for the days of December 4-6. Check the forum (or the forum calendar) to see when your dates are.

It's getting close to the holiday season, so I just wanted to remind everybody to make their martial arts purchases through the links located on the Shop page!

I think that's it for tonight. Later.

Reminder to everybody on several cancellations! First, there is no class at the high school on Thursday because of parent/teacher conferences, and Germantown is cancelled because they don't have school the following day. Also, class has been cancelled for Tuesday at both MTHS and MGS for a fun night out. For information on that, you'll need to view, sign, and return this document.

Also, Daisy Breitbarth has given us her address in case anybody wanted to write her.

I got bored after writing an English paper so I've finished my designs for the new flyers. I made them basically half a sheet of paper. I'm sending some off on the weekend of the Decatur tournament and I'm going to make a bunch for our holiday tournament in just under three weeks!

I just wanted to mention that even though I just made over the website about a month ago, I'm going to eventually do away with the frames here soon. I'm not planning on doing that until Christmas break but I might get antsy beforehand and play with it. There's a few things that bother me about it now that I've had them in for awhile.

By Christmas break at the latest, I plan to unveil some brand new merchandise. Last week I created a CafePress.com account and I'm going to be designing some stuff. The options I have are pretty sweet. I'm not sure if I'll have anything by the holiday party or not, but new merch is definitely in the works.

I've changed the menu on the left so you can scroll. Nothing of dire importance was missing to the functioning of this site, but there is a link exchange between us and both the Village of Metamora and MTHS. I didn't know until I was on a computer with a different resolution that it didn't show up.

Check out the Shop - I added a brand new item. My dad made originally made five of these racks last October - one for me and one for four others at my black belt ceremony. I've always liked the look and now I've talked him into making these available for everybody. He is only on e-mail at work and I don't know how often he has his phone on, so just go ahead and contact me if you're interested and I'll talk to him about getting a hold of you.

New pictures coming soon. I have a few already done but I need to know some spellings of last names! If you're picture isn't up yet give me a shout.

New open tourney flyers coming soon. My old ones got deleted and I had an edited version ready to upload, so I decided to start from scratch with an entirely different concept I'd been working on. Expect those by the end of the week.

This is my first Newswire update in about two weeks after my laptop suddenly crashed. Slowly, I'm getting back on track.

Remember to turn your clocks back an hour tonight to gain a wonderful extra hour of sleep. If you notice the time from the forums is off from the time on your computer's clock, go to your Control Panel -> Board Settings to change it.

Rantoul tournament results have been posted. Congratulations to everybody who went down there, and welcome to those of you who noticed us there.

I posted a bunch of items in the Newswire thread I made while I couldn't update this, so make sure you check those out.
